Cookie Policy

Our websites, like most websites, use cookies and similar methods to track visits. We make an effort to minimize tracking and maximize visitor anonymity, though.

Consent and Analytics

Piwik Pro

We use Piwik Pro for cookie consent and general website analytics. Piwik Pro is EU based and GDPR compliant. Piwik Pro does not collect IP addresses, the data collected is anonymous, and it cannot be referred to you as an individual. Piwik Pro creates three cookies. One cookie is necessary to recall your consent settings. The other two cookies each contain a random and unique ID to recognize returning visitors and to recognize page views that belong to the same visit.

In-depth Analysis

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity for in-depth analysis of interactions with individual pages. In an accumulated and anonymized form, we can see where on the pages users focus, click, and scroll. This helps us improve page layout and design and hopefully create a better user experience. Microsoft Clarity sets two cookies, each containing a random and unique ID: One to recognize returning visitors; and one to recognize page views that belong to the same visit.

Advertising

Google AdSense

By running ads on Google Search, we can increase visibility and visits to our websites. This is crucial for our ability to collect funds for our work to help refugees worldwide. The Google AdSense tracking tool reports visitor actions after clicking sponsored links in Google Search results. This helps us create and display the most cost effective ads.

Social Media

Meta

By running ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), we can increase visibility and visits to our website. This is crucial for our ability to collect funds for our work to help refugees worldwide. The Meta tracking tool reports visitor actions after clicking links to our website from Facebook or Instagram. This helps us create and display the most cost effective content and advertising.

Newsletters

Agillic

Our newsletter and other emails are sent with Agillic. When readers click on a link in an email, Agillic tracks the visit on our website. This helps us understand which types of content readers prefer and subsequently improve the relevance and quality of our newsletter content.

Embedded content

To provide a modern and engaging experience to website visitors, we embed content from external sources. Content like video, audio, charts, forms, and maps depend on this.

Typically, the content sources apply tracking for functional and analytical purposes only, but they may use it for marketing and profiling as well. We attempt to use content sources that do not track visitors, though. For each piece of embedded content that applies tracking, you decide whether to view it or not.

We use the following sources for embedded content:
