Do unaccompanied minors have special rights?

If a child under the age of 18 enters Denmark without parents or any other family and applies for asylum, the child is termed an unaccompanied minor asylum seeker.  As such, the child has special rights including rights that are described in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

If an unaccompanied child wishes to be reunited with family, a tracing process can be initiated with the help of the Danish Red Cross.
